Today is William Foley’s last day with us, and we want to express our deep gratitude for all his contributions to the EFFORT project. William joined the project at IC3JM in September 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher, and his incorporation has been a real boon to our work. William is not only incredibly smart and thoughtful, but his sense of humor and wit have made working with him a real pleasure. Appropriately for the EFFORT project, he is also very hardworking and his efforts have had a huge, positive impact on our research.

William and Jonas are collaborating on a series of papers using the original EFFORT data. The first joint article, on the influence of parenting on children’s cognitive effort, has recently been published in the Journal of Early Adolescence, and a set of others are still in the pipeline, including the central paper of the project about the social origins of effort. We look forward to continued collaborations with William and to seeing his extremely promising scholarly career unfold.

Luckily, William will not move far as he is about to start a new postdoctoral positions at UNED, working with our esteemed colleague (and Jonas’ former PhD co-supervisor) Fabrizio Bernardi. We wish him all the best for the future!Take care, William!

With warm wishes,
The EFFORT team
