After four years of working in the EFFORT project, Alberto Palacios Abad is moving on. He has been an absolute mainstay of the team and essential to the project’s success. A few weeks ago, Alberto successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “The prize for hard work: effort, educational attainment and the transmission of social inequality”, which he wrote during his time with the EFFORT project. The committee, which was composed of professors Fabrizio Bernardi (UNED), Heike Solga (WZB) and Juan J. Fernández (UC3M). External expert reports were provided by professors Elina Kilpi-Jakonen (Turku) and Kaspar Burger (Zürich). Finally, Alberto was awarded the title of doctor of social sciences, with the maximum grade (cum laude).
Here is a picture from the thesis dinner with the committee and supervisor Jonas Radl. (Unfortunately, Heike Solga could not be with us on the occasion). Congratulations Doctor Palacios Abad!
While we are sad to see Alberto leave, we are also happy to see him flourish personally and professionally. Gladly he plans to keep in touch with the project. We wish him nothing but the best for his future, which promises to be bright whatever path he chooses going forward. Thank you for the great time together, Alberto!
